What do parent carer forums do? 

They collect feedback from local families and work in partnership with local authorities to challenge and improve local services.

Who can join FACE Walsall PCF?

Any parent carer, family member, guardian, or foster parent of a child with SEND 0 - 25 years, living in Walsall.

Does it cost to join?

No, it is free to join us.

Who runs the forums?

A committee made up of parent carers who all have children or young people with SEND. They are volunteers who have a wide range of experience.

Are you part of the council?

 No, although we work with and alongside the council as equal partners, FACE Walsall parent carer forum is completely independent of the local authority and health and social care services.

How are forums funded? 

Most forums are funded by the Department for Education (DfE) through a participation grant managed by the charity Contact.

What do you mean by Co-production?

When parent carers work together with professionals to design and deliver services

Do I have to commit a lot of time? 

No. we usually offer different levels of involvement, from simply receiving newsletters to joining the steering group. We are flexible with how you want to get involved with us.

Is FACE Walsall Parent Carer Forum a campaign group?

No we exist to help shape and influence service providers, commissioners and policy makers.

Is a diagnosis required? 

No, you do not need a diagnosis for your child or young person.

Do you help with individual cases? 

We represent the collective views of local parents and generally do not advocate for individual families, but can signpost you to help

What is a "local offer"? 

What is a "local offer"? 
Local authorities must publish a "Local Offer" setting out available education, health, and social care services for children with SEND.

What are "Short Breaks"?

These are services designed to give parent/carers a break from caring, which can include overnight care, activities for the child, or support. You can read more about Short breaks here Walsall SEND Short Breaks
